President Donald Trump's inauguration did not bring in the expected number of donations to the Republican National Committee, The Hill reported.
"We thought there would be a huge influx in contributions this weekend, but we were wrong," the RNC wrote in an email, according to the website.
The RNC needs a "massive turnaround immediately" to meet its January deadline on Tuesday, committee officials said in the email.
The Hill noted fundraising emails often sound dramatic in an effort to bring in more donations.
Despite any projected shortfall, the RNC's outlook remains strong with Republicans controlling the White House and Congress.
The RNC email also included a message from Trump asking donations to the RNC, which raised $36.6 million from Oct. 20 through Nov. 28, the Hill reported.
And a note on the RNC website reads: "While the election might be over, Democrats and the media will relentlessly try to attack us, lie about us, and divide us over these next four years.
"We count on the generous contributions of our supporters to help us fight back against the attacks and get our message straight to the American people."
