Donald Trump is leading Hillary Clinton in Ohio, and lags by just 1 point in Florida, new CNN/ORC polls in the two battleground states show.
Among all voters in Ohio, the breakdown is:
- Trump: 43 percent
- Clinton: 39 percent
- Libertarian Gary Johnson: 12 percent
- Green Party nominee Jill Stein: 3 percent
Among likely voters, the split goes like this:
- Trump: 46 percent
- Clinton: 41 percent
- Johnson: 8 percent
- Stein: 2 percent
Here's results among all voters in Florida:
- Clinton: 45 percent
- Trump: 44 percent
- Johnson: 8 percent
- Stein: 1 percent
Among likely voters, the support breaks like this:
- Trump: 47 percent
- Clinton: 44 percent
- Johnson: 6 percent
- Stein 1 percent
The margin of error for polls in both states is plus or minus 3.5 points.
The new data comes as other recent surveys, including a Bloomberg poll released Wednesday, show Trump ahead or closing the gap.
In other findings:
- Trump tops Clinton by 22 points among white voters in Ohio and 29 points in Florida.
- Clinton is ahead by 70 points among non-whites in Ohio, and by 43 points among non-whites in Florida.
- Clinton tops Trump by 6 points among those under age 45 who are likely to turn out in November in Florida; in Ohio, Clinton and Trump are about even among this group. CNN notes Obama carried this group by double-digits in 2012 in both Florida and Ohio.
- In Ohio, Clinton's favorability is at 36 percent; 41 percent view Trump favorably. She also trails Trump by 12 points on the question of who is more honest and trustworthy.
- In Florida, 46 percent have a positive impression of Clinton and 43 percent of Trump. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio holds a higher favorability rating than either of the two, with 51 percent viewing him positively.
