For all the plaudits Rep. John Lewis has been given for siding with his conscience in skipping Donald Trump's inauguration, it's not the first time the Georgia Democrat has played that card, a fact the president-elect called him out for Tuesday.
The Washington Examiner reports that Lewis also skipped George W. Bush's inauguration in 2001 because he thought it "would be hypocritical to attend Bush's swearing-in because he doesn't believe Bush is the true elected president."
Trump on Tuesday noted that all-too-familiar a refrain.
Lewis has led the charge on boycotting Trump's inauguration; more than 30 House Dems are now skipping Friday's swearing-in.
