The close relationship between President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron got even closer Tuesday morning when Trump brushed a piece of dandruff off his counterpart's suit jacket.

The pair spoke in front of reporters in the Oval Office ahead of a meeting between the two leaders. Cameras began rolling when Trump and Macron were standing up.

"It's a great honor, a great honor that you're here," Trump said to Macron. "But we do have a very special relationship."

At this point, things got a bit awkward.

"In fact, I'll get that little piece of dandruff off," said Trump, who used one of his fingers to brush at the top of Macron's jacket lapel. "We have to make him perfect. He is perfect. It is really great to be with you and you are a special friend."

Later during the press appearance, Macron appeared to look down at his jacket and brush something off.

French government officials revealed last fall that Macron's office spent more than $30,000 on makeup services for him during his first three months in office.
