President Donald Trump's longtime lawyer Michael Cohen is telling friends that he does not the president would issue a pardon for him, CNN reported.
Cohen spoke to several friends before his interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, the news network reported.
"I brought up the pardon, and he said, 'I don't think so. I just don't think so,'" Cohen's friend told CNN. "He's certain in his mind that he's been dismissed."
A second friend told CNN: "His mindset is of someone who is operating under the assumption that he is not getting that, though of course, he doesn't know one way or the other."
Cohen is awaiting a potential indictment in a criminal investigation in New York, according to CNN, and he has been under investigation due to his business dealings, but has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
Prosecutors in the case are likely to look at Cohen's admitting that he set up a limited liability company to pay adult firm star Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had an affair with Trump, CNN reported.
In the interview with ABC's Stephanopoulos, Cohen said, "My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will."
CNN noted Cohen had previously said he would take a "bullet" for Trump.
