There is a "good chance" that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will "do what's right" when it comes to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Donald Trump tweeted early Wednesday morning.

The pair of tweets came after China's government confirmed, through the official Xinhua news agency, that Kim had traveled to meet with the Chinese president and other officials, marking his first trip outside his country since he assumed power in 2011.

The trip was shrouded in secrecy, with Kim traveling in and out of China in a special train much like the one his father, Kim Jong Il, used to visit China.

The talks were held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xinhua said. Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan also welcomed Kim and his wife, Ri Sol Ju, with a banquet, and the couples watched an art performance together, according to reports.

Kim is scheduled to meet in a summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in April, followed by a potential meeting with Trump in May. Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has also indicated he'd like to speak with the North Korean leader.
