Seventy-three percent of Republicans in Wyoming have an unfavorable view of Rep. Liz Cheney. R-Wyo., after she voted for the impeach Donald Trump, according to a new poll commissioned by the former president’s political operation.
It showed that 20% had a favorable view of her. The poll, posted by Politico, was conducted by McLaughlin & Associates for Save America, Trump’s newly formed political action committee.
Here are the highlights:
- 70% of all Wyoming voters say the Senate’s impeachment trial is unconstitutional, compared with 22% who say it is not.
- 69% disapprove of Cheney’s vote to impeach Trump, compared to 29% who approve.
- 63% say they are less likely to vote for her because of her impeachment vote.
- 59% say they approve of Republicans removing her from the GOP leadership in Congress, while 32% disapprove.
- 85% of Republicans in the state have a favorable view of Trump, compared to 14% who do not.
- 13% of general election voters in the state would vote to reelect her.
- 21% say they would vote for her in a head-to-head Republican primary matchup against one of her announced opponents, state Sen. Anthony Bouchard, who is favored by 54%
The poll, conduced Jan. 25-26, surveyed 500 likely general election voters in Wyoming. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
