Tony Fabrizio, who served as pollster for Donald Trump's presidential campaign, said Bernie Sanders would have won the election had the Vermont senator captured the Democratic nomination, The Hill is reporting.
Fabrizio's comments came at a Harvard University Institute of Politics event on Monday, according to the website.
"There's no question that if it had been anybody other than (Hillary) Clinton or anybody other than Trump, that race would not have been as close as it was either way," Fabrizio said. "It would not have been."
He was asked specifically about a Trump-Sanders contest and he said: "I think Sanders beats Trump.
"I think Sanders would have had the ability to reach a lot of the less than college-educated, low-income white voters," he added.
Sanders, an independent, has stirred speculation that he might run again for the Democratic nomination, Fox News reported.
He recently made his second visit in less than two months to the key presidential primary state of New Hampshire, according to the news network.
