President Donald Trump, counter-punching since the day he declared his White House candidacy, struck back at the "fiction" of The Washington Post, which he ridiculed as "garbage" for "just another hit job" in a report on White House chief of staff John Kelly.
The Post report chronicled a fracturing relationship between President Trump and Gen. Kelly, who was supposed to bring order to the White House "chaos" of last summer.
Instead, the Post reported, Gen. Kelly has been "berated" by the President and threatened to resign, saying "I'm out of here, guys," according to the report.
President Trump has also seen myriad reports of him privately considering moving forward in the White House without a chief of staff, making it more of a one-man show like he ran the Trump Organization in the private sector.
And, as AP so wrote Saturday, a change in the White House staff might still be coming:
"In Trump's West Wing, once the rumors begin that an aide's exit is forthcoming, the 'stink' on that staffer never leaves, according to one of the nearly dozen White House aides, former administration officials and outside advisers who spoke to The Associated Press under the same conditions."
