President Donald Trump's re-election campaign is expected to hire his former spokeswoman Katrina Pierson, The Daily Beast reports.
Pierson, a tea party activist who worked on Trump's first campaign, is a "shoo-in for a position of her choosing," according to unnamed sources close to Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale. Pierson declined to comment to the Daily Beast.
In the 2016 campaign, Pierson became well-known for her TV appearances, which frequently put her at odds with news anchors. MSNBC's Kate Snow once said she was "speechless … trying to follow [Pierson's] logic."
More recently, during an appearance on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" she defended the display of confederate statues, saying that "bad history is still good history for this country."
Commentator Wendy Osefo then asked her, "Slavery is good history?"
"Considering where we are today! Where we are today! Absolutely!" Pierson replied.
