Longtime Donald Trump attorney, Michael Cohen, denies threatening porn actress Stormy Daniels, who claims she had a consensual affair with Trump in 2006, Vanity Fair is reporting.
"In fact, I have never spoken to her," Cohen told the magazine. "I have never emailed her. I have never met her. I have never texted her."
Michael Avenatti, an attorney for Daniels, has said his client had been "physically threatened." However, he has not provided details or names. He would not comment on whether the threats came from anyone tied to the president.
But Cohen maintained his only contact with Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was through an attorney.
"Every interaction with Ms. Clifford was always through her previous attorney," he said.
Asked by Vanity Fair if he knew whether she was threatened by anyone connected to Trump, he replied: "I can only speak for myself. I reiterate: I have never threatened her in any way and I am unaware of anyone else doing so."
Cohen has said he shelled out $130,000 of his own money to Daniels in 2016. Politico reported it was part of a nondisclosure agreement.
The White House has denied Trump had an affair with Daniels.
"People are mistaking this for a thing about the campaign," Cohen said about the payment. "What I did defensively for my personal client, and my friend, is what attorneys do for their high-profile clients. I would have done it in 2006. I would have done it in 2011. I truly care about him and the family — more than just as an employee and an attorney."
Meanwhile, Daniels is expected to discuss the alleged threats against her in an interview on "60 Minutes."
