President Donald Trump lashed out against protesters early Friday morning, two days after protests at the University of California at Berkeley turn violent.
Trump sent the tweet just before 4 a.m., a followup to his Thursday morning tweet threatening to withhold federal funding from the university.
"I do not believe our students were involved in the vandalism and the violent behavior that occurred," said Margo Bennet, the school police chief, according to The Washington Post.
"This was a group of agitators who were masked up, throwing rocks, commercial-grade fireworks and Molotov cocktails at officers. Those were not our students. That's not our students' behavior."
Only one person was arrested at the protest, making it impossible to determine if the violence was caused by students or by a group of paid professionals as Trump alleges.
