President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Monday to note no evidence has been uncovered in the Russian investigation.
A story in The Washington Post on Saturday had quoted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. as saying: "When you lose to somebody who has 40 percent popularity, you don't blame other things — [James] Comey, Russia — you blame yourself. So what did we do wrong? People didn't know what we stood for, just that we were against Trump. And still believe that."
The Post story detailed plans by the Democrats to focus on a new campaign message for the 2018 election.
Trump's tweet came as his son-in-law Jared Kushner confirmed four contacts with Russians during the presidential campaign or after the election, but denied colluding with the Russian government.
"I did not collude, nor know of anyone else in the campaign who colluded, with any foreign government," Kushner said in a statement as he prepared for an interview with the Senate Intelligence Committee.
