President Donald Trump on Monday insisted that the U.S. intelligence official who filed a whistleblower's complaint that focused on Trump's call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy must be unmasked and "must testify."
Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives are conducting hearings as part of its impeachment inquiry into the president, which centers on the call with Zelenskiy.
"We must determine the Whistleblower's identity to determine WHY this was done to the USA," Trump wrote in a post on Twitter.
He also criticized House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, a Democrat, for announcing Sunday that the whistleblower might not be called to testify as previously announced.
"Before the president started threatening the whistleblower ... we were interested in having the whistleblower come forward. Our primary interest right now is making sure that that person is protected," Schiff said Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation."
Trump on Monday suggested that Schiff might have directed the whistleblower's story,
labeling it "a total Impeachment Scam!
