The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is reportedly behind an effort to raise money for Senate races that could determine if the GOP retains control in the upper chamber.

The Wall Street Journal reports the nation's biggest business lobby will deploy influential Republicans to fundraise for competitive Senate races.

The "Save the Senate" drive is being led by Republicans who back the presumptive presidential nominee — and those who haven't yet done so, according to the Journal.

Republicans "are all over the board on the presidential race, but there's a lot of unanimity when it comes to the Senate," South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, an honorary co-chairman and fundraiser for the Chamber's drive, tells the Journal.

There's no specific fundraising goal, the Journal reports.

"We're going to raise as much as we can to be competitive between now and election day," Scott Reed, the Chamber's senior political strategist, tells the newspaper.

Republicans hold 54 of the Senate's 100 seats, and are defending 24 seats in November — including a half-dozen in battlefield states, the Journal reports. Democrats are defending 10 seats.

According to the Journal, others involved in the effort include Mitt Romney, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, Haley Barbour, a former Republican National Committee chairman and Mississippi governor, former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole, former RNC chairman Mel Martinez and former Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman.
