Democratic voters believe that both Democrats and Republicans face issues over sexual harassment, but more Republican voters believe only Democrats have such problems, according to a HuffPost/YouGov poll released Tuesday.
In the poll, regarding the Democratic Party:
- 60 percent of Democrats and those who lean Democrat believe the party has a very or somewhat serious issue with sexual harassment.
- 76 percent of Republicans and those who lean Republican believe that Democrats have a serious sexual harassment problem.
Regarding Republicans:
- 75 percent of Democrats and those who lean Democrat believe Republicans have very or somewhat serious issues with sexual harassment.
- 40 percent of Republicans believe that about their own party.
- Over half of both parties' supporters believe that each party handles accusations of sexual harassment well.
- 53 percent of Democrats believe their party handles the accusations well, while 24 percent believe that it does not.
- 15 percent of Republicans believe Democrats handle harassment accusations well, and 69 percent believe that Democrats do not.
- 51 percent of Republicans believe their party handles harassment accusations well, while 32 percent believe it does not.
- 16 percent of Democrats believe the Republican Party handles accusations well, while 65 percent believe it does not.
Few in either party believe that their party has reacted too strongly to sexual harassment accusations.
- 3 percent of Democrats say the party has responded too strongly, with 27 percent saying it has not responded strongly enough.
- 17 percent of Republicans say their party's response has been too strong, with 22 percent saying the response has not been strong enough.
The poll consisted of 1,000 completed interviews conducted among U.S. adults on Nov. 16 and Nov. 17, using a sample selected from YouGov's online panel to match demographics of the adult U.S. population, HuffPost reported.
