Former Mexican President Vicente Fox had some harsh words for President-elect Donald Trump Friday regarding Trump's promise to have Mexico pay for a border wall.
Fox, who served from 2000-2006, tweeted this Friday afternoon:
"TRUMP, when will you understand that I am not paying for that [expletive] wall. Be clear with US tax payers. They will pay for it."
One of Trump's biggest campaign promises was that he would construct a wall between the U.S. and Mexico and have Mexico foot the bill. Mexico has said several times it would not pay for it. Last spring, Trump floated the idea of cutting off money transfers between the U.S. and Mexico until America's southern neighbor sends Washington a check to cover the wall's costs.
A new report suggests Trump has asked the U.S. government to figure out a way to pay for the wall, with the incoming president later saying he would seek reimbursement from Mexico.
