After calling for Kris Kobach's resignation from President Donald Trump's voter fraud commission Wednesday, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., tweeted the true reason for the panel was to "suppress the vote."

Cummings, along with three other Democratic House lawmakers, sent a letter to Vice President Mike Pence requesting Kobach's resignation from his position as Vice Chair of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. Kobach came under fire two weeks ago for requesting voter roll data from U.S. states, including names, date of birth, voter history, information regarding felony convictions, and information regarding voter registration in another state, military status, overseas citizen information, party info for every voter, and the last four digits of the registered voters' Social Security numbers.

Cummings recommended the commission investigate voter suppression and Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, since it was probing election integrity.
