Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., a relentless critic of President Donald Trump, said Sunday impeachment proceedings “should be started” against him.

In remarks on MSNBC’s “AM Joy” program, Waters repeated her frequent call  — but one that may have more resonance as Democrats become the House majority in January.

“This president in my estimation has been everything possible to certainly be eligible for impeachment,” she said. “I really do think that it should be started. I think there have been a couple of attempts that certainly did not win a support because the Republicans were in charge but I do believe impeachment should begin.”

She also disputed arguments the process would be too disruptive.

“We can be about the business of health care. We can be about setting the country on the right course to undo many of the things the administration has done to undermine the very people they are supposed to represent,” she descaled. “So I think we can do it all.”

“What we should be doing” is “protecting our democracy,” she added.
