Echoing President Donald Trump's calls to reveal the identity of the anonymous whistleblower, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said "media, do you job and print his name."
"We also now know the name of the whistleblower," Paul told a Trump campaign rally in Kentucky. "The whistleblower needs to come before Congress as a material witness because he worked for Joe Biden at the same time Hunter Biden was getting money from corrupt oligarchs.
"I say tonight to the media, do your job and print his name!"
Trump had made the same call via Twitter and to reporters Sunday, saying the media is working with Democrats to hide the political animus of the whistleblower, who filed the complaint that touched off the latest impeachment attempt by the president's political opposition.
Paul, who drew Trump's praise for his pointed comments, took the defense of the president to another level, too, calling for Hunter Biden to be subpoenaed by Congress.
"And I say this to my fellow colleagues in Congress, to every Republican in Washington, step up and subpoena Hunter Biden and subpoena the whistleblower.
"And I say to my colleagues, if shifty [Rep. Adam] Schiff will not let Hunter Biden come, and if you will not bring the whistleblower forward, every Republican in Congress should take a walk and say, 'this is a farce.'"
Paul expressed support for the president seeking to investigate the Biden connections in Ukraine.
"Hunter Biden made $50,000 a month; that's the definition of corruption," Paul told the rally. "We know he got it only because of his family connections."
