President Donald Trump's campaign on Tuesday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review 50,000 absentee ballots in Wisconsin in the latest effort to overturn the Nov. 3 election.

Democrat Joe Biden won Wisconsin by 20,000 votes, and was declared the official winner on Dec. 14 when the states' electors met. Biden topped Trump 306 to 232 in the Electoral College.

But Trump has alleged voter fraud in multiple states, including Wisconsin, and has been attempting to overturn the election through lawsuits and other legal means.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court earlier in December ruled against Trump's team in a 4-3 decision when conservative Justice Brian Hagedorn joined the court's liberal justices in saying the challenge was filed too late to be reasonable, The Hill reported.

The U.S. Supreme Court has previously rejected two challenges from the Trump campaign contesting the election. A joint session of Congress meets Jan. 6 to certify the election.
