Kim Jong Un's release of three American hostages on Wednesday is an indication the North Korean strongman wants to make a deal with the United States to shore up his nation's wobbly economy, Gordon Chang, a leading expert on Asia, told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

"What Kim Jong Un is trying to do here is to get good will from the U.S. because he wants to have a deal of some sort," Chang told host John Bachman on Wednesday's "Newsmax Now."
