Dec. 18, 2023: Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters know that the Democratic Party has majority control over the U.S. Senate at this time. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 34% of voters mistakenly believe that Republicans control the U.S. Senate.
The survey also found that 59% of voters know that Republicans have majority control over the House of Representatives, while 25% believe it is under Democratic control.
Methodology
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points. The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on December 6-7. 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
