Petraeus to Testify Before House, Senate Committees

By    |   Wednesday, 14 November 2012 11:02 AM EST

Despite a sex scandal that cost him his job, former CIA Director David Petraeus will testify before before the intelligence committees of both houses of Congress about the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, though exactly when is not yet known.

Petraeus conducted his own investigation into the attack two weeks ago and is expected to have details and insight into the situation beyond that of any other individual because of his former position with the intelligence agency.

Fox News reported that Petraeus will testify for the Senate intelligence committee Friday, though not at the Capitol building. Exactly when and where he will go before the House committee is still being worked out.

After the scandal about Petraeus and his mistress broke Friday, lawmakers expressed concern not only that they would not get to hear from the head of the agency, but that knowledge of the FBI investigation that exposed his extramarital affair might have affected testimony he gave three days after the attack on Sept. 14.

The testimony likely will be behind closed doors, reports ABC News.
