A Connecticut teen suffering from Hodgkin lymphoma is fighting the state for her right to refuse chemotherapy treatment, according to a reports.

The 17-year-old, identified only as Cassandra, underwent two chemo treatments. She then ran away from home to avoid further treatment. Cassandra is reportedly now in temporary state custody and being forced to undergo more chemotherapy for her condition.

Her mother, who supports Cassandra’s decision, says her daughter does not want to “put poison into her body.”
