Trump as Speaker Would Bring Real Leadership Back to DC

Kevin McCarthy has been pink-slipped as speaker of the House and for many voting Republicans, it's been a long time coming. The 15^th round draft pick to run the representatives made every day a new study in gaslighting. Really, one could learn a lot about self-respect in personal relationships from McCarthy: If someone is treating you like that, run far and fast.

We were told some crucial issue would be taken up with alacrity, yet everything seemed to flow the other way. Failure to issue subpoenas in a timely fashion — as a Maryland and new D.C. attorney, I can tell you that time and quick, decisive action are weapons to be wielded — has cost permanent losses in the effort to root out corruption.

Keeping left hand from learning what right hand was doing, as was the case with funding Ukraine, was a detestable and divisive technique of McCarthy.

Now, the mainstream media is all breathless about who will take his place. The speaker of the House is a constitutional position — he or she is third in line for the presidency. But who out there is not tethered to fundraising, running for reelection every two years, playing the D.C. games, beholden to this, that and the other?

Who has the leadership, respect and knows the issues inside and out? One person in the USA: Former President Donald Trump.

The speaker does not have to come from the House of Representatives. In fact, some are whispering names like former member and current CEO of the Trump Media & Technology Group — including Truth Social — Devin Nunes. I'm quite certain that Nunes would happily stand aside for his boss, who is likely to become the 47^th president of the United States.

So, would Democrats' heads explode at the thought? Of course! The beauty is, Trump doesn't care. Also, it would expose those Republicans who aren't jumping on the Trump Train. Most certainly, any member of the GOP who acted irresolute about the 45^th president would be a likely candidate to be primaried. It's time to shine the flashlight under the rug.

Trump has always shied away from the beaten path. It's what makes him great! He wouldn't accept "just because it's not done" as an excuse not to name a former president and current candidate, as speaker of the House. He may not have been a politician in 2016, but he is now and a savvy one at that. He's seen it all!

PTrump is a do-er. Whether it's a building an ice rink or historic-on-a-biblical scale Middle East peace treaty, Trump plays to win. He won't tolerate excuses, tactical delays, Parliamentary tactical slight of hand or general nonsense.

Think of members like Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters and Jamaal Bowman who would have no choice but to participate in the business of this country, up close to Trump and personal. He would control their paychecks and office budgets, after all! Silly boycotting of inaugurations wouldn't be a substitute anymore for constructive, adult work.

Meanwhile, Republicans would be given a new lease on life: rallying around a natural leader and prepping for a successful 2024 election.
