The 2018 NFL Draft will be held in Dallas at the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium, Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Wednesday.
The draft will take place April 26-28, and it is the first time it will happen inside an NFL stadium. The 2017 draft was held in Philadelphia — the arch enemey of Dallas when it comes to football — and 2015-2016’s drafts were held in Chicago.
The draft in Philadelphia, held outdoors, set an attendance record for the event. The Dallas draft is expected to use various indoor and outdoor areas of AT&T stadium.
“Philadelphia raised the bar by taking the Draft to another level, and this new opportunity in Dallas will enable us to continue the event's evolution and grow it even further," Goodell said in a release, NFL.com reported. "We are grateful to the Dallas Cowboys, the cities of Arlington, Dallas, and Frisco, and the Dallas Sports Commission for their leadership in turning this vision into reality."
Philadelphia was considered Dallas’ biggest rival for hosting the draft, with Kansas City and Green Bay also under consideration, CBS Sports reported.
All rounds of the 2017 draft will be televised. Tickets will be sold for access to certain parts of the event, and a free festival will be held as well.
Dallas also is also hosting the 2018 NHL draft.
Philadelphia Eagles fans weren't too keen on the decision, but Dallas football enthusiasts were ready to go.
