'30 Rock' Series Finale Stars Nancy Pelosi

By    |   Thursday, 31 January 2013 04:37 PM EST

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to make her scripted television debut on the series finale of Tina Fey's critically acclaimed comedy, "30 Rock."

The congresswoman is expected to guest-star as herself on Thursday night in a mock TV interview in which she accuses Jack Donaghy, played by Alec Baldwin, of being an "economic war criminal," according to the New York Times.

"I would do almost anything Tina Fey asks me to do," Pelosi told the Washington Post earlier this month, when news of her guest role broke. "I’m flattered that they asked me to make a cameo in the series finale. I had a lot of fun."

Pelosi is no stranger to the small screen, having made many talk show appearances over the years, including "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Rachael Ray," and on late night shows with Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jon Stewart, Charlie Rose, and Stephen Colbert. Pelosi also starred as a guest judge on Bravo's "Top Chef" in 2010 when the competitive cooking reality series was set in Washington.

She also isn’t the first big political name to guest-star on Fey’s show. Two years ago, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice played herself on the sitcom as Donaghy’s ex-girlfriend. Former Vice President Al Gore and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg have also appeared on the show.

"30 Rock," which premiered in 2006, is loosely based on Fey's experiences as head writer for "Saturday Night Live" and takes place behind-the-scenes of a fictional live sketch comedy series depicted as airing on NBC. The series' name refers to the address of NBC's New York headquarters—30 Rockefeller Plaza. Fey plays the female lead, Liz Lemon.

With an impressive collection of Emmy's, "30 Rock" solidified Fey's place as a pioneer for women in comedy. She's often described as a modern-day Mary Tyler Moore.

The final one-hour episode of "30 Rock" airs on NBC Thursday at 8 p.m. EST.
