Holiday released the hit version of the melancholy song in 1941. Legend has it that as many as 157 Hungarians committed suicide over a seven-week period after listening to the ballad about love and loss. It was even called the “Hungarian suicide song.”
The young
Angelina has been singing for about four years, according to Time magazine.
The girl also said while she doesn’t speak English as her first language, she understood the Billie Holiday song, which
she said she found on YouTube, said People magazine.
"Every time I sang it, I felt something special about it," Astar told the judges. "It's hard to explain."
“Gloomy Sunday” was made into a movie in 2000 and takes place just before WWII.
Here's Billie Holiday singing the song when she was 26.
