Yankees star Aaron Judge is the new face of Pepsi, having signed a multiyear endorsement deal with the company.
According to Justin Toman, senior director of sports marketing for PepsiCo, Judge is a sure fit with the beverage company, describing his style of play as an embodiment of fun and excitement, ESPN noted.
"From his amazing catches to his monstrous home runs, whether you are a Yankee fan or not, you have to watch him," Toman said. "How he handles himself makes him a great ambassador for our brand and company on and off the field."
The 6-foot-7 star told his agent to hold off until the end of the season before collecting any deals, according to Sports Illustrated.
This gave Judge, who was previously with Rawlings and Under Armour, as well as Fanatics, the pick of the lot. He opted for Pepsi.
"I am very excited to be working with Pepsi," Judge said in a statement. "Having grown up with Pepsi in my home, it makes this partnership even more special. Just like Pepsi, I always try to find ways to celebrate this great sport with our fans. They're now providing me another way to share my passion for the game."
Judge joins a list of notable athletes who have had active relationships with Pepsi over the years, and the deal further solidifies his status as a rising star.
On Monday the rookie right fielder was unanimously named the 2017 American League Rookie of the Year, CBS Sports noted.
Judge beat out second-place finisher Andrew Benintendi of the Red Sox, and third-place finisher Trey Mancini of the Orioles with all 30 first-place votes.
He was also announced as the cover athlete for the popular video game "MLB The Show '18," Sports Illustrated reported.
