Aaron Rodgers Doppelganger: QB's Look-Alike on Science Channel

By    |   Monday, 10 March 2014 08:08 AM EDT

Aaron Rodgers' doppelganger, or living double, was spotted on the Science Channel over the weekend in the form of Tom Wrigglesworth, an English engineer turned comedian.

Wrigglesworth's resemblance to the Green Bay Packers' star quarterback was apparently first realized by a viewer, who shared his observation on Twitter leading to a series of tweets regarding the eerie physical similarities between the two including one from ESPN Wisconsin's Jason Wilde, the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel noted.

Wrigglesworth is a regular on the Science Channel show "Outrageous Acts of Science," where he is regarded as an engineer, having studied electrical engineering at England's University of Salford, though he is reportedly most well-known across the pond for his stand-up comedy acts.

Within hours of the initial tweet, Wrigglesworth weighed in with a tweet of his own agreeing with the comparison, while acknowledging that he can't play football.

It is unclear whetherRodgers is a fan or even aware of the Science Channel show that explains the science behind popular internet videos.

On Sunday however Rodgers' younger brother, Jordan Rodgers, tweeted out a photo of his brother wearing a neon purple wig alongside pop star Miley Cyrus. Was the photo a subtle gesture of acknowledgment from the Rodgers family that the NFL quarterback had a Science Channel doppelganger considering Wrigglesworth's flowing hair somewhat resembled that of Rodgers' wig?

Though it has several meanings, the term Doppelganger, which has its origins in German folklore, generally means the living double of a person.
