Personal trainer Travis "Achilles" Williams was killed by a freight train in the Atlanta suburb of Buckhead on Tuesday while he was filming a YouTube video near the tracks.
The 30-year-old Williams was jumping rope while a friend filmed him at the time of the accident.
According to WXIA-TV, investigators said Williams apparently misjudged the width of the train in relation to the tracks, the station reported. His friend was knocked down by the impact.
"The train crew blew their horn and sounded the bells, but [Williams] did not move out of the way,”
Norfolk Southern Corporation spokesman Rick Harris said, according to People.
Harris said an investigation was underway to determine whether Williams was on the tracks at the time of the incident.
Williams often posted videos of his outdoor workouts on his YouTube channel, which has more than 450 subscribers.
Williams leaves behind his girlfriend and 6-year-old daughter, The Daily Mail reported.
A
GoFundMe page established to pay for funeral costs and support his daughter and fitness projects had raised more than $24,000 as of Thursday afternoon.
The tragedy comes just two months after
Bravo reality show fitness star Greg Plitt was struck and killed by a train while filming a promotional video.
