Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5 and TV personality on "The Voice," was pelted with powdered sugar while signing autographs outside of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" studio on Wednesday.
TMZ reported that Levine was hit in the face with the white stuff, and was promptly whisked away by security guards. Several fans in attendance captured the incident with smartphone cameras, and posted pictures to social media websites.
Security guards called the Los Angeles Police Department, and they soon arrested a 28-year-old man named Navid Farsi,
ABC News reported.
Levine is apparently not the only celebrity to suffer a so-called sugar bomb at the hands of the man. Farsi threw a rock at Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson last week, and was also arrested at that time, according to LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado.
During the Levine incident, Farsi managed to bombard the singer and four others. He was arrested on suspicion of battery, and his bail was set at $100,000.
The motivations of the prankster assailant are unclear, however
Fox News pointed out that perhaps the attacks are meant to be puns. He threw a rock at The Rock, and poured sugar on Levine, whose new hit song is titled "Sugar."
In the song Levine croons, "Your sugar/ Yes, please/ Won't you come and put it down on me?"
