Adam Nimoy will make a cameo on "The Big Bang Theory," playing himself, the son of the late "Star Trek" star Leonard Nimoy, as he interviews Jim Parson's character Sheldon for a documentary about his father.
"The Big Bang Theory" episode, titled "The Spock Resonance," is scheduled to air on CBS Nov. 5, according to
Entertainment Weekly.
Leonard Nimoy never appeared on "The Big Bang Theory" but the show has made numerous references to his "Spock" character, said
CBS News.
"For example, in 'The Codpiece Topology' (Season 2, Episode 2), Sheldon attends a Renaissance faire dressed as Spock, complete with Vulcan ears," wrote CBS. "Then, in 'The Transporter Malfunction' (Season 5, Episode 20), Sheldon had a dream about a Spock action figure that comes to life."
"If we were to go through the entire series and try and pick out all the Starfleet references, we'd be here for quite a while."
Adam Nimoy tweeted about the appearance on Wednesday.
Nimoy also posted a Twitter photo of him and Zachary Quito who plays Spock in the current movie reboot of the series due out in July 2016. Nimoy visited the set of "Star Trek Beyond" in September.
Leonard Nimoy, 83, died in February at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles, according to
The New York Times. Nimoy was suffering the end-stages chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which he announced he had in 2014.
His iconic Spock character lasted not only through the television series from 1966 to 1969, but the original movie franchise, and two appearances in the new reboot "Star Trek" in 2009 and "Star Trek Into Darkness" in 2013.
