Adam Sandler: Cheetah Surprise Scary, Actor Tells Letterman (Video)

Comedian Adam Sandler told talk show host David Letterman it was no laughing matter for him during a recent South African safari when a cheetah jumped on his back.

Sandler shared a home movie of the incident with the host of "Late Night with David Letterman" on Tuesday's show. Appearing on the show to promote his upcoming movie "Grown Ups 2," Adam Sandler said via a YouTube clip (below) that the scary cheetah surprise happened on a private safari.

Sandler said he was with an animal specialist when they stopped at a nearby watering hole where a cheetah was roaming, according to the show's clip that was posted on YouTube.

"They were very nice people at this place," Sandler told Letterman, according to International Business Times. "They let me in with a cheetah and said I could feed the cheetah water with my hands. So I did it and something went a little bit wrong."

Sandler said he was told that he bent down too low and the cheetah immediately jumped on his back. The animal specialist quickly pulled the cheetah off Sandler without incident, the video showed.

"What happened was they said you're not supposed to bend down low by the water and that's why (the cheetah) got mad ... I played it off real good, but I was very nervous. It was fast," Sandler said, according to the International Business Times.

Sadler told Letterman while he was scared, a hurting stiff neck prevented him from reacting, making him look like the cheetah's action did not rattle him.

"My friends who watched it, they go, 'Man, you were a badass, you played that off really well,'" Sandler told Letterman, according to the International Business Times. "But I had a stiff neck at the time, so I slowly stood up, and everyone was like, 'Whoa, you were cool.' I swear to God when he jumped on me all I was gonna do was let him eat me. There was not one part of me that was gonna fight back."

"Grown Ups 2," which also stars Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Salma Hayek, is scheduled for release on Friday. The original "Grown Ups" was released in 2010 and made $162 million at the box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
