Adam Sandler Says Hosting SNL Would Be a Real Long Shot

By    |   Thursday, 29 May 2014 12:52 PM EDT

Adam Sandler, star of mega-hit films like "Big Daddy" and "The Waterboy," is highly unlikely to host Saturday Night Live anytime soon, if ever, he said during a recent interview.

Sandler was asked about returning to the show by fellow SNL alum Norm Macdonald on his video podcast, and responded "Why should I?" Variety reported.

"I don’t know how good it would be. I’m slow now," he continued.

Macdonald goaded him further, seemingly in hope Sandler would relent, but instead he dug in.

"There are guys who love doing it – who are great at doing it," he told Macdonald. "I just don’t know how good I’d be doing it. I did what I can do on the show."

Sandler was let go from SNL in 1995, and Macdonald left in 1997. Sandler's never guest hosted the show since his departure, but did appear briefly to sing his famous "Hanukkah Song."

According to A.V. Club, Eddie Murphy is also rumored to have a policy against hosting SNL because of something to do with David Spade. Macdonald brought up the rumor, but Sandler said, "I don’t know what happened," in regard to it.

Sandler just last week launched a romantic comedy with actress Drew Barrymore, "Blended," the pair's third such film after "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates."
