Adrian Robinson, who played for four NFL teams in his short pro career, hanged himself in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office confirmed on Monday that the 25-year-old Robinson had committed suicide and his body was found on Saturday, according to the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

Robinson had signed in April to play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League after stints in the NFL with the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers, said the Patriot-News. He was a star player at Temple University before joining the NFL, where he was the 2009 Mid-American Conference's defensive player of the year, noted the Denver Post.

"The Temple football program lost a friend, a brother and a wonderful young man today," said Temple coach Matt Rhule, according to PennLive.com. "Adrian Robinson was one of the greatest competitors I ever had the pleasure of coaching and I know he was an even better teammate."

Robinson had participated in the Tiger-Cats mini-camp last month after signing with the team and the squad was looking for him to take part in training camp at the end of the month, Hamilton officials told the Hamilton Spectator.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Robinson family at this time," Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin said in a statement.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and others expressed condolences for Robinson on social media.
