Aisha Evans, a South Carolina school custodian, has been charged with stealing $180 from students' backpacks while they participated in this week's National School Walkout.
While students at Richland Northeast High School demanded stricter gun laws by leaving class for 17 minutes on Wednesday, Evans, 32, took the opporunity to rummage through the students' things, the Richland County Sheriff's Department said, CNN reported.
She reportedly stole $180 in cash from three bags.
Evans has been terminated from her employment with the agency Service Solutions, which provides custodial services to the school, CNN reported.
She is charged with three counts of petty larceny.
