Al Sharpton's reported half-brother has been charged in the capital murder case in the Sunday shooting death of a 23-year-old man in Dothan, Alabama, AL.com reported.

Kenneth Glasgow, 52, a felon and a recent advocate for prisoners' rights, was arrested with Jamie Townes, 26, in connection with the death of Breunia Jennings, who was shot in the head, the newspaper reported.

The website said both men were taken into custody and booked in the Dothan City Jail. The men were later transferred to the Houston County Jail, per AL.com.

Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish told the Dothan Eagle newspaper that investigators do not believe Glasgow fired the shots that killed Jennings, but believe Glasgow was the driver of the vehicle used in the commission of the murder.

Parrish said that action would make Glasgow culpable to capital murder charge with Towns, who is suspected of being the gunman, the Dothan Eagle wrote.

Parrish said in a news conference Monday that Jennings allegedly stole Townes' vehicle, the newspaper said. Glasgow, with Townes as a passenger, followed Jennings while she drove. Jennings died after Townes allegedly fired several shots into the vehicle, supposedly striking her in the head, the Dothan Eagle reported.

"Instead of him notifying law enforcement (of the alleged stolen vehicle), he took matter in his own hands and jumped in Mr. Glasgow's vehicle to find Breunia Jennings," Parrish said of Townes, according to AL.com.

The Dothan Eagle reported that Glasgow had been involved in several community movements since being released from prison several years ago. He was convicted on drug charges in the late 1980s, according to the newspaper.

The activist has referred to himself as Kenny Sharpton Glasgow on several occasions and has said he is the half-brother of Sharpton, founder of the National Action Network and the host of the MSNBC weekend show "PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton," the Eagle reported.

The New York Daily News reported that Sharpton's representatives have not responded to questions about Glasgow and the incident as of Tuesday.
