"All My Children" actor Alec Musser died by suicide after an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office told People.

Musser was found by his fiancée Paige Press at their home in Del Mar, California, according to People, which reported that Press had last seen him alive before going to bed last Friday. She discovered him the next morning "slumped forward on the bathroom floor" with a shotgun nearby.

Musser was confirmed to be deceased when law enforcement and paramedics arrived. His official cause of death is listed as a suicide. He was 50.

Press revealed Musser's death Saturday as she paid tribute to him via her Instagram Story.

"RIP to the love of my life," she wrote of Musser in the post. "I will never stop loving you. My heart is broken."

In another story slide she wrote: "Today is the worst day of my life. We were so happy" before directly addressing Musser, writing, "You were the best fiancé I could of ever asked for."

Musser was best known for his portrayal of Del Henry in the long-running soap for 43 episodes from 2005 to 2007. He also appeared in various TV shows and films including "Desperate Housewives," "Road to the Altar," "Rita Rocks," and "Grown Ups" starring Adam Sandler, who also remembered the actor on Instagram over the weekend.

"I loved this guy. Cannot believe he is gone," Sandler wrote. "Such a wonderful, funny good man. Thinking of him and his family and sending all my love. A true great sweetheart of a person."

Salma Hayek Pinault also paid tribute to Musser on social media.

"He was so kind professional and absolutely hilarious. His early departure breaks my heart. I feel so blessed that I got to meet him," she wrote. "My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones for this great loss."
