Amal Clooney, actor George Clooney's wife of 3 months, appeared to have a baby bump in a photo taken this past weekend, but the couple denied the rumors it sparked.
"Amal Clooney is not pregnant," George’s longtime representative Stan Rosenfield
told Us Weekly on Tuesday.
Just a few days prior, on Saturday, the newlyweds were spotted by a paparazzo leaving Soho House West Hollywood. One of the photos snapped of Amal, 36, while waiting for the valet showed her cream colored coat at an angle that made it appear to be bowing in front.
The photo quickly went viral, with sites like TMZ running headlines like "Amal Clooney: Expecting?" Others made cute comments on Twitter. http://www.tmz.com/2014/12/08/amal-clooney-looking-pregnant-photos-george/
The couple has had to deny pregnancy rumors more than once since their wedding in late September.
One person close to the couple, however, expressed how much he would love for them to have a baby.
"Now, it's time for grandchildren!" Amal's father Ramzi Alamuddin was reported as saying at the wedding reception in Venice, Italy.
For others, the pregnancy rumors seem to be uncreative space filler for entertainment publications. Celebrity weddings are as a rule followed by pregnancy rumors, with the press constantly alleging, and the couple constantly denying.
The post-wedding formula for celebrity reportage has other components as well, as was pointed out by one astute commentator on Twitter.
