Amazon will be opening a large New York office, bringing 2,000 jobs to the Big Apple next year.
According to CNBC, the e-commerce giant will take up residence at Brookfield’s 5 Manhattan West next year, when it occupies the 359,000 square feet office space aside the Hudson Yards development project.
The expansion will create 2,000 new jobs in finance, sales, marketing, and information technology, with employees expected to earn around $100,000 annually.
Additionally, Amazon announced it would retain over 1,800 jobs in the New York State.
"We're excited to expand our presence in New York - we have always found great talent here," said Paul Kotas, Amazon's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Advertising in a statement.
"Last January we announced our plans to create 100,000 full-time, full-benefit jobs in the U.S. by mid-2018 - and we are on track to reach that goal."
The project is the latest in a series of job-creation initiatives launched by Amazon in New York.
According to a statement released by the city, Amazon has invested $9 million into an innovative Fashion Photography and Videography Studio in Brooklyn, leading to the creation of 50 direct jobs and supporting more than 300 jobs in 2012.
In 2014, Amazon established a 350,000 square foot administrative office at 7 West 34th Street, creating over 500 jobs.
