Amy Schumer tweeted "my heart is broken" after hearing about the Louisiana theater shooting that left three dead and occurred during her movie "Trainwreck" Thursday night.
Schumer, who wrote and acted in the movie, also sent thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted by the shooting.
The shooting occurred Thursday night, just 20 minutes into the 7 p.m. showing at a Lafayette, Louisiana,
theater, The Washington Post reported.
My heart is broken and all my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Louisiana.
The shooter was identified as John Russel Houser, 59, and the two killed were Mayci Breaux, 21, and Jillian Johnson, 33, The Post said. Nine other people were injured. Houser ultimately shot and killed himself.
Police are looking for a motive to the shooting but said they may not find one.
According to The Associate Press, Houser’s family sought to have him committed in 2008 because they considered him a danger to himself and others.
The AP also reported that Houser had appeared on a Georgia radio show in the past, advocating violence against people who performed abortions and frequently espoused radical views.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal
told "Fox & Friends" Friday that he is suspending his presidential campaign because of the theater shooting, although he did not specify for how long.
Other stars also went online to express their outrage and grief at the shooting:
