An angry California man was arrested after setting a 13-foot python loose on a sushi restaurant this past weekend.
According to CBS Los Angeles, Hiroshi Motohashi spent $200 on a meal at Iroha Sushi in Studio City on Sunday, and was subsequently asked to leave the restaurant when he lingered to show other patrons a small snake.
Around 7:20 p.m., he returned with a 13-foot python, bright yellow in color.
"[Expletive] you guys," he said as he set down the snake,
The Los Angeles Times reported.
The loose snake amused some patrons, but terrified others, some of which ran out of the restaurant.
"Get this thing out!" waitress Jessie Davaadorj recalled shouting. "You know, everyone’s like eating so customers are yelling, 'Get this thing out! Are you crazy!'"
"We asked him like three or four times and he said, 'no,'" said Sissi Dashtort, another waitress. "He was like starting fights with the customers so we had to call the police and fire department."
The police and animal control eventually arrived, and the latter department had to rescue the snake, which had gotten stuck near a cash register. Both the small snake and large snake are reportedly being cared for by animal services in Van Nuys.
Motohashi was promptly arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported in 2005 that Motohashi was "charged with selling gila monsters and several endangered animals without a permit" and sentenced to 15 months in federal prison.
