Anthony Weiner, aka 'Carlos Danger,' Is Fodder for Twitter Mocking (Video)

By    |   Wednesday, 24 July 2013 08:20 AM EDT

Two years after he resigned from Congress for exchanging racy pictures with women online, New York City Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, aka 'Carlos Danger,' has done it again, but this time he's not backing down. And that's good news for folks who seem to love mocking Weiner on Twitter.

Under the pseudonym "Carlos Danger," Weiner reportedly sent explicit sexual messages and photos to a 22-year-old woman and "lured" her into an online relationship last summer, gossip website thedirty.com reported Tuesday.

Wiener spoke at a press conference Tuesday to acknowledge the new scandal and announce he has no plans to drop out of the mayoral race.

"This is entirely behind me," Weiner, a Democrat, said at the news conference. "We knew it might come up. It's in our rear-view mirror. We still work on this every day.

Weiner's wife, former Hillary Clinton adviser Huma Abedin, also spoke to the media, saying she will stand by him yet again.

"I love him. I have forgiven him," she said. "I believe in him. And, as we have said from the beginning, we are moving forward."

Some of Weiner's mayoral opponents have called for him to step down from the race, including Bill de Blasio, Sal Albanese, John A. Catsimatidis, and John C. Liu.

"The issue of Anthony's relationships, online or otherwise, is between he and his wife, however, the propensity for pornographic selfies is a valid issue for voters," Liu said in a statement. "Ideas and eloquence can propel candidates, but judgment and character still do count."

Twitter users, too, had a field day with Weiner's latest indiscretion. From the cringe-worthy "Carlos Danger" nickname to his wife's puzzling decision to stand by him, users flooded the social network with reactions.
