Ariana Grande received a standing ovation during Sunday night's American Music Awards for her Motown-style performance of her song "Tattooed Heart."
Appearing on stage underneath a spotlight that accentuated her ruby-red sequin dress, the 20-year-old petite singer brought the house down with her powerful voice.

Shortly before the performance, Grande received the New Artist of the Year Award.
"Oh my god, I'm so nervous! Thank you so much," the Boca Raton, Fla., native said during her acceptance speech. "I have the most loving supportive fans in the world. I'm so nervous. My mom made me this thing and I have it in here so that I don't forget anybody."
In addition to Lady Gaga reportedly standing up and leading the ovation following Grande's performance Sunday night, other musicians and celebrities expressed their amazement via Twitter later that night.
Grande, who formerly played the character Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon sitcom "Victorious" and the role of Charlotte in the musical "13" on Broadway, became a top-ten hit maker on the Billboard Hot 100 this year for her album "Yours Truly."
A vegan who has adopted three rescued dogs, Grande is an outspoken animal welfare advocate who says her music is most influenced by the Hall of Fame singer-songwriters Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
"I love Mariah Carey. She is literally my favorite human being on the planet. And of course Whitney [Houston] as well,"
Grande told NeonLimeLight.com in January. "As far as vocal influences go, Whitney and Mariah pretty much cover it."
