Ariana Grande split with fiancé Pete Davidson over the weekend, according to an exclusive TMZ report.
Sources said the break up was amicable and that it was just not the right time for the relationship to take off, however, given Grande's increasingly personal messages on social media and her no-show at the F--k Cancer's inaugural Barbara Berlanti Heroes fundraising gala over the weekend, the 25-year-old pop star could be nursing a broken heart, Wonderwall noted.
It has been a tough few weeks for Grande, following the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller.
She has stayed under the radar since but was set to make an onstage return at the gala on Saturday, where she was meant to perform a duet with Broadway's "Wicked" star Kristen Chenoweth, E! News reported.
However, Grande did not attend the event and Chenoweth performed on stage alone. Her manager Scooter Braun attempted to explain Grande's absence in a speech to the crowd.
"Someone I'm very close to was supposed to come sing for you today, and because of things that she's going through, she couldn't be here today," he said, according to E! News. "And while I was frustrated, being the manager, my wife, being who she always is, just looked at me and she goes, 'She needs this time.'"
Speculation was that Grande is still mourning the death of Miller however, TMZ's report puts her breakup with Davidson at the same time as the gala, meaning she could have been mourning the split.
The couple, who announced their engagement earlier this year, are not ruling out the possibility of anything happening in the future, sources told the news outlet.
