Broadway star Audra McDonald has slammed a theatergoer for taking a photo during a nude scene on stage over the weekend.
Taking to social media, the award-winning actress called out the culprit who brazenly used a flash while snapping a pic of McDonald nude during the opening sex scene of Broadway's "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune," Deadline noted.
"To whoever it was in the audience that took a flash photo during our nude scene today: Not cool. Not cool at all," McDonald tweeted Sunday night.
Taking photos during a Broadway production is prohibited, but the photographer managed to get away with it. This is the first time the legendary actress has done a nude scene onstage.
The 49-year-old actress had previously done an on-screen sex scene with Woody Harrelson for the 2011 movie "Rampart," an experience she described as "horrifying" in an interview with The New York Times.
For the production, Broadway producers hired "intimacy director" Claire Warden to help prepare McDonald and Michael Shannon for their on-stage sex scene, Deadline noted. However, McDonald said she was still struggling to normalize the experience.
"Maybe strippers get real used to it," she told The Times, "but for me there’s nothing normal about that. So there’s nowhere in my mind that I can drift off and let this just kind of happen, because everything about it is demanding that you be present."
