Bailey Sellers' father's final letter arrived on her 21st birthday on Friday and his message to his daughter was heartbreaking.
William Sellers died of cancer when Bailey Sellers was 16 years old but before his death, he made sure that his daughter would receive a delivery of flowers and a note each year for her birthday until she turned 21, Fox News reported.
On Friday the East Tennessee State University student received her final bouquet and card.
"Bailey, this is my last love letter to you until we meet again," the letter read, according to Fox News.
"I do not want you to shed another tear for me my baby girl for I am in a better place. You are and always will be the most precious jewel I was given. It is your 21st birthday and I want you to always respect your momma and yourself. Be happy and live life to the fullest. I will still be with you through every milestone, just look around and there I'll be."
Bailey Sellers, who was a sophomore in high school when her father was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, chose to leave school to help her mother care for her father.
"I became home-schooled so that I could help my mom out ... because he couldn't work anymore," she said, according to ABC News.
Bailey Sellers' mother, Kristy Sellers, said she knew of her husband's plans to surprise their daughter on her birthday each year.
"We were sitting on the couch -- and it was about a month before he passed away -- and he said he had already done it," she said, according to ABC News.
"That this was what his plans were. He said, 'I'm going to do it until her 21st birthday. And if she's married, ask her significant other to send her flowers in remembrance of me."
