Alec Baldwin Booted from American Airlines Flight

By    |   Wednesday, 07 December 2011 10:59 AM EST

Alec Baldwin was removed from an American Airlines flight that was scheduled to take him from Los Angeles International Airport to New York City.

The actor’s expulsion from the flight was due to an incident that occurred with a flight attendant over a word game Baldwin was playing on his smart phone.

“Alec was asked to leave the flight for playing 'Words with Friends' while parked at the gate,” Baldwin spokesman Matthew Hiltzik said in a statement.

“He loves WWF so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it,” Hiltzik indicated.

A crew member told the New York Post that Baldwin was removed because he had become “violent” and “aggressive” toward the staff of the aircraft.

A fellow passenger on the plane with Baldwin posted the following comment on Twitter: “On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane. We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait.”

Other passengers on the flight told TMZ that after the confrontation over his phone, Baldwin went into the lavatory and angrily slammed the door. The sound of the door prompted the captain to intercom flight attendants to find out what had happened. The captain then ordered Baldwin removed from the aircraft.

Baldwin put up several posts on his Twitter account over the incident, including the following: "Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving.”

He ridiculed the American Airlines flight attendants, writing that the airline is “where Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950's find jobs as flight attendants.”

Despite tweeting that it would be his last flight with the airline, Baldwin reportedly boarded another American Airlines flight to New York.
